I have a lot of time for the Goldie Lookin Chain (GLC). It’s local to me. I get and know the references. Quite often, if you’re a hip-hop fan, you are listening to lines about places you might never get to experience. Beastie Boys “An Open Letter to NYC” is a great example of this. Places we’ve heard of, might have visited, but maybe not fully experienced like a resident. Having spent a lot of time in Newport, this resonates. Plus it’s amusing.
