There is a big backstory here and I had a great idea about a book for this band, but that’s for another time. Blaggers ITA were fresh from the punk scene and were known for their anti-fascist message, which initially made them the darlings of the music press. Sadly, there was an incident involving a journalist and things started to spiral out of control. This track is from the album they produced after signing to EMI. They had so much potential but political music doesn’t really shift numbers and EMI wanted their pound of flesh. Sadly, Matty, their lead signer died not long after the band were dropped from EMI. This seems a sad story but their music held a spirit I found powerful. Not their most political track, but a great collision of punk, samples and a bouncing beat.
