Guilty Pleasures #41

Irrespective of how clued-in to a music scene or the NME you were, there are always bands that seemed to have constantly activated stealth-mode and stayed off your radar. I only came to know of this band through a tenuous Pop Will Eat Itself (PWEI) connection, very recently. Someone posted this link to a PWEI Fb page purely because the opening sample features heavily in PWEI’s “Axe of Men” track from the “Cure for Sanity” LP. Remember LP’s, kids? Probably not. I also think there is a huge chapter of UK hip-hop history that never fully got the airing it deserved and I wonder if there is an interesting book or anthology there. I could bang on about the UK Vs US rap debate and the dangers of a dominant culture, but for your own sanity, it’s probably best to just press play.
