I was just a little too young to be swept along by the whole wave of punk in the 1970s. Let’s not divert into punk as a DIY ethic and all that. Whilst that is a valid line of discourse, primarily a lot of UK punk just seemed a parody of itself. Whilst I think Lydon is a very insightful guy, a lot of the Sex Pistols output just seemed like hack posturing to me. Hey, but what do I know? However, the parody still produced some great singles. This is a personal favourite. However, I’ve only met one person who has heard of this and they actually possessed the original 7″ single. Anyway, may I present The Rezillos and Destination Venus.
