Life Lists 28# – 10 Rules

It’s been a while since a list has crossed my path, and as those are the rules of my little game, once I discover the list it must be posted. So this was entitled “10 Rules for Students and Teachers”, but I’ve just shortened it to “10 Rules”. This ties in nicely with Rick Rubin’s recent book on creativity which features the use of rules (or not, as the case may be) for producing creative work. Rick’s book has been very illuminating for me as I love understanding peoples creative process. This list was used by John Cale but was recently posted on Brian Eno’s Twitter feed, as part of his archive. There are some similarities with some of the items on Brian’s ‘Oblique Strategies’.

I think these 10 rules fit perfectly with creative endeavours, business ventures or whatever. Having some rules is great, but remembering that sometimes breaking rules can equally leads to a breakthrough or new direction.
