Meth lab. Space lab. Happiness lab. Happiness lab? Havards Happiness Lab, pretty much does what it says on the laboratory description. There have been so many studies into what makes us happy, but Harvard Happiness Lab has boiled it down to three main points:
- Embrace Daily Routines – Walk the dog. Grab a coffee. Crack open the laptop. Break for coffee. Routine keeps us in that zone of being productive and that makes us happy. Even if it is just doing these simple things. The familiarity of the routine is very comforting also.
- Fend Off Regret – Stop worrying whether you should take that job or whether you should start that side-hustle. The older generation will tell you that they regret the things they didn’t do, rarely the things they did do.
- Intangible = Happiness. Money is fine, it’s great, it gets certain jobs done but time with friends and family is an intangible that will make you so much happier. Material things have a limited amount of happiness attached to them. Go for the intangibles every time.
It’s a short list, but it’ll keep you happy.
